BusinessWeek Online has published my latest Viewpoint column, Tech: Where the Last Are First. I discuss a big shift we’ve been seeing in the sources of IT innovation. Smaller organizations, which used to lag behind the curve, are leading the way in creating a new model of business computing. Their need to pinch pennies is forcing them to explore cheaper and ultimately more efficient ways of using information technology – and all companies will ultimately benefit from their experience.
Taking the hint from Nick’s earlier literatures, fluctuating demand curve (peak industrial requirement during the day and peak domestic requirement during night) made the utility generation of electricity possible. Where is the similar analogy in the world of utility computing ?
