As I was writing The Shallows, I kept thinking, “Man, if I could only draw, I’d bag all these freaking words and do this as a cartoon.” Now, thanks to the talented animators at Epipheo, my dream has been realized:

Sure the movie is colourful, but, I preferred the book. Still two thumbs up.
The internet does have a major affect on the brain and mind, but only when you let it. I believe a lot of it is a mental game game we play with our minds.
What about the “digital divide?” The “digital divide” is a division between those who have online access and those who don’t. There are many people around the world who are economically challenged and don’t have the funding to have internet access. Does this mean that these people are smarter and have a better memory than those who do have internet and use it daily? Affordability, convenience, and reliability prevent people from using the internet or a computer everyday. Are these people smarter than others? I believe that like the Neutrality Thesis, that says that technologies themselves are value neutral, but they can be used in particular ways that reflect certain values, technologies are neutral to the brain unless you place a value upon it.
